This glossary will be useful to learn new words related to my field of study
- Recession
- noun
- A recession is a macroeconomic term that refers to a significant decline in general economic activity in a designated region.
- Example: In the late 1990s, the economy of Southeast Asia sank into recession.

- An accountant
- noun
- A person whose job is to keep, inspect, and analyse financial accounts.
- Example: A friend of my father's offered me a job. He's an accountant in the City.

- CEO
- noun
- A chief executive officer, the highest-ranking person in a company or other institution, ultimately responsible for making managerial decisions.
- Example: The study was limited to four women who held executive positions: one associate administrator, one interim associate administrator, one director and the ceo.

- Monopoly
- noun
- The exclusive possession or control of the supply of or trade in a commodity or service.
- Example: The Electronic Marketing has exterminated the monopoly of goods and materials, all such acts of course are for the consumer's benefit.

- Taylorism
- noun
- The principles or practice of scientific management.
- Example: Taylorism and the ideal of ergonomics seemed to provide the perfect basis for extending productivity in Lenin's eyes and when coupled with the 'introduction of the best system of accounting and control' the socialist tide would be unstoppable.

- Oligopoly
- A state of limited competition, in which a market is shared by a small number of producers or sellers.
- Example: Within the food retailing oligopoly, competition is strong and strategic.

- Profitability
- Noun
- The degree to which a business or activity yields profit or financial gain.
- Example: Keeping oneself focused on one market segment creates more value for the customer, as the company can understand a customer's needs much better thereby improving its profitability.

- Capital
- noun
- Capital is a term for financial assets, such as funds held in deposit accounts and/or funds obtained from special financing sources.
- Example: Those whose property had a capital value of less than 11,000 asses fell into the lowest class, and formed a single century that were exempt from military service.

- stock Exchange
- noun
- A market in which securities are bought and sold.
- Example: Once we know the Beta of the New York stock exchange equals to 100000, for instance, we will be able to predict the required return on equity.

- SMES
- noun
- Small and mid-size enterprises (SMEs) are businesses that maintain revenues, assets or a number of employees below a certain threshold.
- Example: The global web site assists the formation of internationalized market and let smes to use the Internet as a choice to compete with large companies and penetrate overseas markets.

- Marketing
- noun
- Marketing is the activity, set of institutions, and processes for creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large.
- Example: SALES AND marketing Competition in the same areas of Emo-tion would pose a possible threat.

- Stock
- noun
- A store or supply accumulated or available; especially : the inventory of goods of a merchant or manufacturer.
- Example: I find, for example, that insider trading is better in predicting future stock prices for firms that operate in high tech industries compared to the ones in non-high-tech industries.

- Service
- noun
- The service is distinguished from the good or product by its intangible nature and by the impossibility of storage. A service is generally consumed at the time of its production.
- Example: The interior design service of Knoll Associates, was responsible for some of the most pioneering corporate interior designs of the postwar period.

- noun
- What is missing to balance income with expenditure.
- Example: Clearly the legacy of the war was a huge current account deficit, with exports in 1945 at only 30 per cent of their prewar level (imports 60 per cent), and shipping earnings substantially diminished.

- Publicity
- noun
- The giving out of information about a product, person, or company for advertising or promotional purposes.
- Example: Yahoo and Google have suffered from bad publicity surrounding their activities with China in recent months regarding either the disclosure of private information.

- Society
- noun
- An organization or club formed for a particular purpose or activity.
- Example: The Institute of Biology and Royal Geographical society.

- Optimization
- noun
- The action of making the best or most effective use of a situation or resource.
- Example: The optimization of human resources is a very important asset that provides a competitive advantage for the enterprise.

- Economy
- noun
- The wealth and resources of a country or region, especially in terms of the production and consumption of goods and services.
- Example: By buying an established foreign firm, knowledge about local economy and business environment is acquired, which is strength of this option.

- Budget
- noun
- Estimation of revenue and expenses over a specified future period of time and is usually compiled and re-evaluated on a periodic basis.
- Example: Previously, Arthur Andersen (Management Consultants) had recommended a budget of £1.5m for a system which did not even include an AVLS!

- Cooperative
- noun
- Company where the rights of each management partner are equal and where the profit is shared between them.
- Example: This study explores the efforts by major American corporations to stage cooperative exhibits and individual pavilions to promote their products.
